A mirror/ lacquered glass without NOVACEL® 9212 may break into small and sharp pieces that could be very dangerous for operators during handling of the glass sheets in the workshop.  In everyday life, mirrors can break for many causes, that is also very dangerous for users.

That’s why it is recommended to laminate Novacel® 9212 at the back of mirrors and lacquered glass.

Compatibility of the film with the most of silicone adhesives :

​Silicone adhesives are used to fix the mirror/lacquered glass on the wall. NOVACEL® 9212 is compatible with the majority of the silicone adhesives ( mounting instructions from glass fabricator to be followed)

Prevents the paints from scratches and corrosion :

​Scratches at the back of the mirrors or lacquered glass can be visible from the front side. If it occurs during fabrication, handling or processing, the glass is scrapped. While safety back film NOVACEL® 9212 protects the human beings from injuries it protects the paints from scratches also.

​NOVACEL® 9212 is clear transparent with a glossy an homogeneous aspect when applied on the surface. This is very important when mirrors or lacquered glass are installed as dressing doors, or furniture doors.


Lamination of the safety back film Novacel® 9212 can be done wether at the mirror manufacturers or at the glass processors. Best lamination practice is to laminate the NOVACEL® 9212 thanks a lamination machine to get the best quality and aspect of lamination. It also helps to clear any air bubbles out and avoids creases.

Designed by Novacel for glass processors, this simple laminator is very easy to set up and handle.
«  Plug and laminate » was the target to develop this machine. Even if it is very simple to use, this laminator has many key features to be used for the protection of the glass and especially safety back film 9212 :

However this is possible to laminate 9212 by hand especially with small width rolls.

  • Ready for use film :
    NOVACEL® 9212 is a ready for use film. No need of special preparation  to laminate the film on the surface or the film. The film is delivered in rolls without any liner, so this is a direct lamination. However standard conditions of lamination need to be respected : the surface has to be clean, dry and dusted.
  • Widths film up to 2550 mm :
    NOVACEL® 9212 has been designed to cover a DLF in one lamination way only ! Meaning rolls are measuring 2550mm in width.
    This is a maximum width for such a kind of film. Thanks to this wide width, lamination step is more efficient : no need to overlap several stripes of films.
